Full of natural fruit sweetness and an oh-so-delicious crunchy crisp, we think this apple crisp is perfect for breakfast, as well as for dessert. Whether made with rolled oats or sprouted whole grain cereal, or a combination of each, it is another great way to include whole grains in your diet. Rolled oats will provide a granola-like crisp while the sprouted whole grain cereal will be a bit more crumbly in texture. Simple to make, this apple crisp is ready to bake in minutes. Leftovers-if there are any!-are just as tasty.
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Thinly slice apples (no need to peel!) and put in a 8 inch X 8 inch baking pan. Pour the juice over the apples and sprinkle with the sea salt and cinnamon.
In a separate bowl, combine all the crisp ingredients together. Distribute over apples, pressing gently. Cover with foil, put in oven, and bake 25 minutes. Then remove foil and bake an additional 20 minutes. Remove baking pan from oven and place on a cooling rack. Set aside for at least 15 minutes to allow the apple crisp to cool. The wait is worth it-the crisp gets even more crunchy and flavorful!
